30 But Still Flirty

I married an older man.

He's not afraid of climbing through Jack's beanstalk with the kids - even when he obviously doesn't fit!

He's not afraid of wearing an oh so hot bandana all over the St. Louis Zoo on the hottest day of the year.  Yes ladies - he often sports bandanas throughout the summer - I am that lucky!

But...I think he can't believe he'll be 30 this year.  I think he may be afraid of 30.  So I'm asking you for help.  Any great ideas to surprise him with?  I have some great gifts already purchased - I'm an organized plan months in advance type of girl with gifts, but I need a date idea.  I really wanted to take him away for a weekend in Nashville.  His birthday is January 2nd so it would be a great weekend to go.  However, our big life adventure officially starts January 4th so I'm doubting he will be game.  Help a girl out.  Give me some great ideas of how to surprise him.  Trust me - he doesn't even know blogging is a virtual world so this will all be secret to him!

  1. Aw, how sweet.
I've been wanting to check out this B&B in Nashville because Owen and Cash and I are there ALL the time: http://www.thebigbungalow.com/ (if you end up going!)

OR you could just bring him to St. Louis there are lots of cool hotels, and take him to Rooster http://roosterstl.com/ OH my it is SO good. It's an amazing brunchy place. There are lots of awesome places to go downtown, but if he's into the LOOP on Delmar that would be fun too. I don't know if you guys are into tattoos, but there is a really awesome tattoo parlor that Owen and I both got our tattoos at called Iron Age, as well as a great record store, some vintage shops, fro-yo!, blueberry hill, starbucks---the list goes on and on.

I don't know if this helped at all, but good luck! and Yay for older men! ;)

  2. Thanks Jillian for the ideas! We love St. Louis & Nashville so I'll check out the suggestions! Tattoos sounds really interesting! I know some people gawk at that, but I have one, and I'm confidant in my man. He shocking has talked about tattoos lately too which cracks me up because he's such a straight shooter!

  3. I was thinking St.Louis too. Someone told me about this hotel a while ago. I've never been to it, but it looks really neat!

  4. Tiff that hotel is amazing! I think we have decided Nashville - we LOVE St. Louis, but we really go there a lot. We haven't been to Nashville in 7 years, so I think we'll have a lot of fun and see some honky tonk bands! They have a great square dancing joint in town - so I'm ready to get my boots on and jig - ha ha! Wish I was kidding though!
