OK - I've noticed a talent I have.
It's probably not a good talent. I realized the other day as I was giving a presentation - it's more like a recorded power point presentation. So I have a script & I read from it. I realized as I was reading - my mind was wandering. It wasn't focused on the words, but some how I was doing the two independently.
There I sat talking about purchasing, but really worrying about my Uncle.
I've noticed I do it when I read books to my kids. I am talking about Llama Llama, but really I'm planning my next day or a grocery list. Then, I think holy cow - how am I doing this?!? This is amazing!
Then, I realize - oh my God I'm doing it again!! I do it CONSTANTLY!
So is this weird, or can you all do this too and no one speaks of it?
Hey there! Long time no talk! My fault - haven't been blogging daily like I should!
ReplyDeleteI totally do this too!!! The scariest thing is sometimes I do it while driving... or while working.. or doing the most important things. Lol. I tend to daydream and mind-wander about my artwork a lot too. It's fascinating, isn't it??
I so do it, I'm doing it now! Writing to you and thinking of what I need to do today! Question: When you are talking to yourself do you talk in complete sentences in your mind or one word thoughts? The reason I ask is my husband is a dork and he says that he only uses 1 word thoughts. Example: lets say he needed to go to the store he only says store in his mind, where I say, "I need to go to the store!" I had to ask because what you are asking seems so like this and I'll bet you are like me, Please say you are like me and not like my husband!
ReplyDeleteOh yes I do it too...it must be a woman thing. I can be in someone's house visiting, having a conversation but in my mind redesigning their whole room in my head while having a conversation about something totally different.

I miss Janie's visits...
ReplyDeleteI do it too and sadly sometimes even during my prayers.. Hate to admit I have voices in my head!! hahaha
ReplyDeleteI do this all the time in class!
ReplyDeleteYou are not alone!! ;)
ReplyDeleteBefore reading the other comments, I was gonna comment that I do this while driving. Scary, huh? When I snap out of it, I wonder where the last few miles went and how did I get here safely???
ReplyDeleteI guess our brains are more complex than we think!!! If only we could tap into that unknown part and multi-task away the things we don't like doing whilst daydreaming...ie: laundry, dishes, floors....
