So I'm wondering - where do my readers love to shop? I am a big fan of TJ Maxx, Home Goods, & Marshalls b/c I'm cheap! I always find some kind of a bargain for me & Jade, the kids, or my house - usually all of the above! I love purses, shoes, and home decore so these stores fill my addiction perfectly!
As far as junking goes, I'm a big fan of 3rd Sunday Market in Bloomington, IL. There is so much there to look at! I can find junk to fix up for my home, or even finished pieces that are treasures. From smalls to big cabinets - we usually come home with a truckload. I wish I had a picture from our last adventure - can you say Clampetts??
As far as real antiques - I have been loving the Casey, IL Antique Mall. I have never physically been there, but my mom loves it. They send me regular picture emails & oh my gosh the booths are great. It is much more primitive than my style, but the old peely paint cabinets knock my socks off! I know I'd find something large to die for there!! Last Christmas my Dad got my Mom the most amazing kelly green cabinet that is now displayed in her kitchen. This stuff is expensive - so I can just drool over it now, but some day in some way - I'm going to have some serious antique cabinets rocking in my home!!
In the meantime I'll be updating my home slowly but surely with new finds. As the old moves out - I think - gosh that was a hideous piece - why didn't I do this sooner! Then, I fall in love all over again with the new steal I have found!!

I love TJMAXX as well. it has everything!!
ReplyDeleteI am TOTALLY a TJMaxx & Marshalls girl! I am embarrassed to tell you how many times I stop in there in a week. As far as antique shopping...I am all over the map on that one. If I head North, Hixson, WI is my FAVORITE place. I hit it on the way to Minneapolis, which has the BEST shopping ever for vintage finds. I haven't been to 3rd Sunday, but I am goin' next chance I get!! I am probably going to miss Nov & Dec, but would it even be going on with the Holidays? Hmmm...I hear Springfiled has a few fabulous places, so I am going to head there one of these days, too. I guess now that I am typing this out, I guess you could say I'll go just about anywhere. Oh, and if you are ever go to Disneyworld, rent a car and drive a short ways to Leesburg, FL. I FREAKED out at a store there called Victorias Antique Warehouse. Ok, I gotta stop writing before I get in my car and go spend some money someplace! ;o) ~mary~
ReplyDeleteOh Mary - thanks for the hot spots! I LOVE Disneyworld - I can't put it into words - it needs a post devoted to it completely! I'm hoping we get to go with our kids soon so I'll have to check it out! 3rd Sunday Market is only I think April - October. It's fantastic - all kinds of junk form all ends of the spectrum - I like the fields b/c it's the cheapest so it works well for me. Does St. Charles have a lot of shops? I haven't ever been up north shopping, which is insane b/c I have family in Aurora - I'm thinking I may need several road trips now. And oh my - did you see the Junk Bonanza stuff from Minneapolis - I am DYING to go there - please tell me you have been! I'm so excited about Ethel Edith b/c I have a chance to rotate my older pieces out of my house & sell them and get new stuff in my house - it's fantastic in both ways!
