Miss O is starting to show the dreaded signs of heart failure in my eyes...sweating, swelling, blueness at times. I hate it. I just said today that I was ready for Miss O to get her battle scar so we can move beyond the heart woes and into pure joy for our precious child.
My prayers were answered quickly. You see, St. Louis doesn't mess around when it comes to our babies and their surgeries.
We saw the cardiologist Friday & he promised to setup open heart surgery for her AV Canal defect soon. He said sometime in June.
I got the call by 12:30 today.
Her pre-op is June 8th. Her open heart surgery is June 9th.
Her surgeon is Dr. Huddleston.
Please pray hard for my precious angel.
My heart is breaking & rejoicing at the same time. I dread this day with every fiber in my body & at the same time can not wait for this day to get here. It's an odd feeling.
So pray pray pray and then pray some more. Spread her name like wild fire through your blogs & prayer groups. It means more than you will ever know to have all these people that I have met & not met praying for my sweet baby! Thank you all from the bottom of my heart to the top of Ollie Faith's small heart!!
God bless!!
Psalm 30:2
O Lord my God, I cried to you for help, and you have healed me.
Jeremiah 29:11
"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
We'll be praying for Ollie and for your family! I'm spreading the word to my friends and family and facebook, as well as to my blog readers.
ReplyDeleteI have a friend in PA who has a son with Downs, who also had heart surgery at an early age. I'd love to pass on your contact information to her. She started a Mended Little Hearts group in her area and is very involved with the cause. If not, let me know. But we will be praying for Miss Ollie!!!

Trenton had his AV Canal defect repaired June 30th 2009 and he is thriving!!!! If you wanna talk or anything let me know. I love to share my sons journey!I'll be adding this to my blog too if that's ok.

ReplyDeleteAnnie, I will certainly be praying for Ollie and all of yall, I know it's so scary but it will all be fine. My son has had 3, and my grandson had open heart when he was 8 days old, my son was 13 days, then 3 years and again at 13, he is going to have to have 1 more and he is 26 now, and they are doing wonderfully! My son and I always celebrate the day of his 1st open heart (sept. 12) by doing something together, its a special day. Cody has always called his scar(s) his zipper, haha.
ReplyDeleteYall are in my prayers!!!

Always praying for this little angel, I feel like I know her along with your family. These new pics are beautiful!!
ReplyDeletePraying for your little one. Love the pics, incredible baby blues! Saw her in person at your Ethel Edith sale a couple weeks ago. She is a sweetie!
ReplyDeleteI'll be thinking of you and that beautiful little girl (the pics are stunning btw!). Just remember, it's routine to the surgeons. I kept thinking that when we handed Samantha off to them at one day shy of 4 months old, and while it didn't make it any easier, it did help quell some of the panic. (((hugs)))
ReplyDeleteAnnie, Ollie, you, the docs, everyone will be in my prayers. Now you have a target date and it will be here before you know it! I've got a big red circle around June 9th! Ann {{Ollie}}
ReplyDeleteYou're always in my thoughts and prayers. Love those pix. She is such a little princess.

As the mother of a 21 yr. old that's had 4 heart surgeries and more cath procedures than I can count, plus other heart related stuff, I can tell you that St. Louis Children's Hospital is awesome. The nursing staff on the 7th floor is the best there is. The hardest part will be handing your baby over to the surgery staff and watching them walk away with her. That killed me every time. BUT, they brought my child back to me in better shape than he was when he went in every time. Babies are tough little critters. It will be very hard on you, guaranteed. Time marches on, the date will be here before you know it, and then she will be on her way to a happy, healthier life. Good luck and many prayers coming your way.
ReplyDeletemany prayers for miss ollie :)
ReplyDeleteWill pray for you and your whole family. Lovely photos! Just spent Sat. with my niece who has DS. She is doing amazing. Hope you did get to contact CIDSO and get some support. Jen
ReplyDeleteI'm praying for your peace of mind and heart and Ollie's safety until the surgery (and eventually THROUGH the surgery).
ReplyDeleteI'll be praying for you & Ollie! Dr. Huddleston is an amazing surgeon, and the staff at St. Louis Children's is second to none. They will take such wonderful care of Ollie & your family while you are there. If there is ANYTHING that I can do, just let me know.
ReplyDeleteTrust in Him at all times. -Psalms 62:8
Hi,
ReplyDeleteThis is such a lovely post. The pictures of the cute little baby are just awesome.
Thanks for putting them up.
:)
I just found your blog. Thank you for sharing about your beautiful family! My son had open heart surgery 10 days ago and is doing great! My prayers are with Ollie for a successful surgery and speedy recovery!
ReplyDeleteI'll mark my calender. I've never been through this, but I can still pray.
ReplyDeleteWe will be praying for you and Miss Ollie!!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean when when you were talking about an "odd feeling". Our son (now 4 months) was diagnosed with Aortic Stenosis and Pulmonic Stenosis along with narrowed arteries back in March. He is currently thriving so they are waitng until he is not doing so well to operate. I want so much to be past the point of surgery so he can be OK and we can move on. But I am terrified and dred the thought of him having to go through that.
Stay strong mama :) you'll be in our thoughts.
