A Grown Up Pad

This past weekend Maggie, Kylie, Caroline, & Penelope moved into their new house through the woods.  In the move, Aubrie landed Maggie & Kylie's old bedroom - it's huge!

She couldn't be more thrilled!

Everett goes on and on and on every time he comes down about how beautiful it is, how much work I put into it for Aubrie, and then tries to sleep with Aubrie.

Every time she gets so mad that he's in her room & kicks him out.  She proceeded to make a sign that says "No Boys Allowed.  An image of a boy crossed out, with a small footnote - Dad Yes!"  Hilarious!

It's a work in progress, but overall I'm pretty pleased with the look!  It seems so grown up like a Tween - how did that happen?  She's only 7!

My next job is to paint the dresser I think pink her favorite color.  I know people are out there cringing, but as always - I don't like wood - so it's getting painted!

Stay tuned - the other bedroom is becoming a fitness room & Everett's room is *almost* done!

The Basement Condo

Well Ollie is almost 10 weeks old, and I'm finally sharing the pictures of Maggie & Kylie's basement bedroom - AKA the basement condo!

It's a big room in a fabulous turquoise color.

This is Maggie's dresser.  Kylie bought it for her as a gift.  We ran into it on a junk trip and Maggie fell in love with it.

She has a love of old things as well.  Most of her collections are boxed up, but some of her favorite things are in this room.

Here is their family painting Abbie made.  It is a perfect portrait of Kylie, Maggie, Caroline, and tiny mean Hazel.

After they moved in they needed a headboard so we did some thinking.  Mom had an old picket fence that worked perfectly with the word love painted on it.

Isn't this side table fabulous!  Maggie has quite the loot of fabulous cabinets.  Most of them are in storage until she builds her dream house this summer.

This is another great find Maggie scored at 3rd Sunday Market a few years ago.

We love love love old paint!

She has a little vanity table perfect for her make up.

It's the perfect space for their growing family as they help out my family in a big way.

P.S.  Maggie is expecting her second daughter in August, baby Penelope!  I'm excited!!

Caroline's Room

Sweet Caroline's room is filled with treasures that Maggie has collected!  She has a fabulous white armoire that was a steal!  One of her favorite things to do is to read books so she has her own reading corner setup with all her favorite books.

She has a strand of butterflies topped with glittery wings, and a picture of her with her Mama and Da-E.  Maggie is a creative wizard with mixed media.  Give her some glitter and she'll make anything regular into something fabulous.  This frame was plain, now it's a sweet memory of when Caroline turned them into a family.

Maggie also made this tree branch above the chair.  It's darling, as are the baby prints.

Caroline's dresser has more fabulous treasures.  An old baby scale brings the vintage while hot pink brings some fun.  When you collect what you love, it always works no matter what.

Maggie's dear friend made this dream catcher for Caroline when she was just a baby.  It's one of Maggie's favorite things in Caroline's room.  It's spectacular!

Caroline LOVES cats and doggies so Abbie painted her some special artwork for above her bed.  The flower is a nightlight from Ikea that is super cute.

Her bedding is cats and doggies, and she sleeps like a champ already in her new room.

It won't be long & this chubby thighed little lady will be moved into a big girl bed, and baby Pinto will be moved into this shared room!  Only 6 months until August!!

Isn't she a doll!  She loves Trudie so much & is just sure she should be Trudie's mama.

Moving Day

Aubrie and Everett were amazed with the work to be done in Caroline's closet still!

The carpet was perfect & the room was ready!

The paint colors make me smile!

Everything was vacuumed and ready...except the TV cable ports, but those are done now.

This is the view from the basement family room.

We had a ton of snow Saturday morning - go figure!  Pa saved the day.

He plowed a path through the yard down to the walk out basement door.

He is a good Dad.  He didn't have a cab - he had to have been freezing!

That evening we all relaxed, and were thankful most of the house was done.  Kylie fits in perfectly with Jade.

In a room with 2 recliners, a couch, and a love seat.  Ice cream is best served in the littles recliners closest to the TV.

Oh ba ba ba basement!

We are finally there guys!  The rooms are finally done on our end!  The carpet man was scheduled to come yesterday and today, but with the mega ice we had, he wasn't able to make it.

This is Maggie & Kylie's room.  I am loving the color!

I told you it's pretty big!  I hope when we move them in it still feels big!

This is their closet.  They have about a 7' walk in with an organizer on the left.

We were too cheap to get an organizer for the right, so we did a rod and shelf, but they still have 3 bars for clothing which is better than their trailer.

Here is Caroline & Baby Pinto's room.  I love how it turned out too!  The header is where furnace ducts run.  It looks small in the picture, but should fit two beds and a dresser very easily.

Please ignore the dust!  I have dusted this basement I swear 4 times now, and it never ends!

The kids have an 8' walk in closet.  This picture cracks me up...we Foxes have full booties, and I'm not quite sure how Maggie's pants go so baggy - it's hilarious!  Jade just looks exhausted, but maybe it's because he is so blurry!

The closet organizer in here is almost done, when the carpet is installed it will be complete!

So Saturday around noon they move in!  Lord help us all!  Hopefully we can all get settled in and comfortable just in time for Ollie to throw our schedules off again!

Slinging Paint

Basement progress has been kicking booty at our house.  I have wonderful men & women in my family that are so handy & capable.

I on the other hand, have been slacking on my updates...and forgetting to take pictures.

To catch you up, the drywall was finished & textured.  I like to hang my pretties, so the thought of smooth walls and me living here 60 years - well that's just scary what they'd look like after a life-time of decorating!  So we use knock down & love it!  Dad pulled through and his texture application was flawless!

Jade then used a sprayer to spray paint the walls and ceilings with primer & then painted the ceilings white.  Painting the walls was a snap with a quality primer/paint combination.  Well I shouldn't say snap, because I just watched, but one coat & they were done so I can kind of say snap right??

Caroline's room is a sassy greenish yellow.  It's called Goldendale A29-4 from Ace Hardware.

As the paint dried, Daddio went to town with the electrical work.  He said he'd be at my house until midnight.  He finished up at 9.  He's the master - I said it - the master!

Kylie is the master at cutting - he did a fabulous job around the ceiling.  Luckily with no trim  or carpet - paint slinging is fast & easy!

Abbie was in charge of Maggie & Kylie's mega room.  They went with a spunky turquoise color called Peace River A38-3 from Ace Hardware.  Abbie & Jade rolled and did the ceiling cutting.  I believe Jade left Abbie hanging for most of the job.

When the paint was dry, Dad threw up Caroline's light fixture - after I turned the shade so the seam was to the corner - it was perfect.   I'm so very happy I bought this fixture from Lowes!

Kylie learned how to wire when the painting was done & he worked on closet ceiling fixtures.

Dad moved onto more electrical outlets in the big bedroom.  Maggie & Kylie have 4 recessed lights since it's such a big room & we aren't sure the purpose yet recessed lighting works.  Jade wants a theater room wome day, so it makes sense in here.  We put the lights on a dimmer.  Kylie was excited, and I then made sure they knew we weren't mirroring any ceilings or putting smooth jazz on any type of surround sound in this room.

Jade cleaned up paint supplies in the bathroom tub.  Tonight, I cleaned the bathroom tub!  And yes, he has cut the sleeves off his t-shirts - notice plural there - t-shirts.

I watched while all the work went down and grabbed you not the best picture of Ollie.  Old mirrors are fabulous, and the blur of my flash has hidden my newest accessories - my nose and lips - they are so swollen - and definitely not mine.

So what's left you ask?

Painting & installing white trim - we use 1x4s and 1x6s so it's easy and fast
Painting & installing closet doors
Installing closet systems
Wiring up the TV thing a ma jigs that are in the walls
And finally the carpet - which we are hiring out & the man is coming Tuesday & Wednesday to install!

Woo hoo -  next weekend they move!  Talk about close timing eh!
