Taking PreOrders

I have taken quite a break from stamping jewelry.  With Ollie's therapies, two big kids with homework, and a booming fitness business - I just haven't had the time or focus for jewelry.

However, with March being a key month for Down Syndrome awareness I decided to take pre-orders thru Sunday March 3rd for two types of sterling silver necklaces on 18" ball chains.

To order email areid54@yahoo.com.  Prepayment is required since each piece is customized.

Ollie Faith Designs

I haven't posted my work in awhile so here are some things I have been making.

I can pretty much stamp or create anything & my favorite is when I have some creative freedom from customers - then I can truly make the best version of what is in my mind.

I made this & she told me to make it "bad ass" & so I did.  I think it may be my favorite piece to date!  SRA are the initials of their family - I think it's fantastic!

This is my version of the IDSC for Life necklace made for myself.  It celebrates the beautiful life that children with Trisomy 21 (Down Syndrome) bring to their families.  The heart celebrates her healthy new ticker!  Under the Ollie charm is her birthdate & it's topped off with her birthstone plus the yellow & blue stones for DS.  I kind of spoiled myself with this one!

I made this for a good friend that is getting married soon.  I hope his bride loves it.  Hopefully she doesn't read my blog, but if she does - it's an early surprise!  Jade & I are pumped for their wedding!

A sweet funky blanket for one of Aubrie's friends, Jaycee "JC".  I made one for her brother & she loved it so much she got one too!

For a new little farmer, a great gift to welcome her into the world!

Pay It Forward

The IDSC for Life necklace has been a huge success thus far.

They are not making any money off this necklace.  They wanted it as solely an awareness project so I make the jewelry & the money & they have a unique item to spread the word that ALL life is precious.

I feel that since God has blessed me with this opportunity that I should pay it forward as well.  So I will be donating one item from my etsy shop per month for some type of DS event or fundraiser.

For July a little beauty named Shannon is getting adopted from Eastern Europe from Reece's Rainbow.  I have offered up an all life is precious necklace to her mother as a fundraising event.  Please check out their blog & help bring Shannon home!

If you are interested on getting on my list for future months, please email me at housethatjadebuilt@blogspot.com

IDSC for Life Completed Necklace!!!

My supplies have arrived & today I made the necklace for the International Down Syndrome Coalition for Life!

I, as well as they, believe that all life is precious!

It is available here for purchase or you can see more of my work here on my Facebook page for Ollie Faith Designs.

So if you are wondering who are they what do they do?  This is copied from their website & you need to visit it to understand more...

We are parents, grandparents, and loved ones, of individuals who happen to have Down syndrome, standing alongside members who are self advocates. Together, we believe that ALL life is a precious.

Most of us became aware of the high termination rate of babies, who happen to have Down syndrome, when our children were born.

Some of us were informed that our child had Down syndrome while we were expecting. Following that diagnosis, quite a few of us were pressured to abort our child. In spite of that pressure, we went on to have our children.

Yet, there are a good number of us who were given encouragement by wonderful physicians, counselors, and other professionals. We were handed up to date information about Down syndrome when they told us our child’s diagnosis. Now, we want that same quality and caring experience for every family!

There are also some of us, who are grieving the loss of our child, because we did end the pregnancy. In honor of our children, we are standing with others, telling the world, that ALL life has dignity and is precious, including our child that we lost due to termination of our pregnancy.

Whatever our path, it led us to turn to advocacy groups to ask them what their stance was on this issue. Unfortunately, the National Down Syndrome Society, the National Down Syndrome Congress, and the ARC, who all advocate for individuals who happen to have Down syndrome, informed all of us, that they had a position “to not have a position”. All of these groups do wonderful things for the Down syndrome community, however, there was a piece that was missing for our families. After all, it has been reported by many, that the rate of abortion for a baby who happens to have Down syndrome, is near 90%. By far, this is the most discriminating act that is happening to individuals with Down syndrome today!

So, in light of this, the International Down Syndrome Coalition for Life was formed. Our goals are to advocate in the womb and in the room! We believe that ALL LIFE is precious! We believe that taking a life because the child has an extra chromosome is a form of eugenics. We believe that dignity for a person begins at conception.

Our hearts and prayers go out to the women who have lost their children to abortion, due to pressure or misinformation about the Down syndrome diagnosis. Sadly, this happens when families are most vulnerable. The IDSC grieves for and with these families.

We are not looking to raise money. We are hoping to raise awareness of this tragedy.

We are here to support the families who believe with us that ALL life is precious, including the life of their family member or friend who happens to have Down syndrome.

We are here to help the families who do not think they can raise a child who happens to have Down syndrome, but instead choose the adoption option!

And we are here, for the individuals who happen to have Down syndrome, who are part of our coalition, and are proudly pro life! Their pro life voices are incredibly inspiring to ALL of us!

We stand together, knowing that ALL life is indeed precious!

As you can see they are an amazing group & I am proud to be a member of this awesome project.  We were fortunate during our pregnancy to have an educated doctor that told us the amazing beauty in children that have Down Syndrome & that Ollie's  heart could be repaired surgically.  We were not pushed toward abortion or even an amnio like most couples are.  Fortunately, we also knew going into our level II ultrasound that people with Down Syndrome live very full lives from knowing a classmate in our community.  However, this is rarely the picture that is painted with a prenatal diagnosis of Down Syndrome.  Abortion is often pushed which is why our Ollie is the lucky 1 out of 10 babies to survive pregnancy.  In my opinion I am the lucky 1 in 800 to get her as my child.  I wish the doctors were educated about the charm she posesses.  You can't see her charm on paper, but if you are lucky enough to receive her smile it is there!

Down Syndrome Necklace

Today I made my first necklace for Down Syndrome.

Ollie is 'more alike than different' & she definitely inspired this piece.

It is all sterling silver.  It's on an 18" ball chain.  I added a yellow & a blue swaroski bead & a smaller charm that is stamped T21 for Trisomy 21.  The smaller charm can easily be changed to a name, initials, birth date, etc.

If you want to purchase this necklace it is available here.

I can also custom make these - email me at housethatjadebuilt@gmail.com

Time Management...

Since I'm on break from Ollie Faith Designs & Grandma RuRu had the big kids today - I had a hard time just sitting around.  I like to be busy & today I was praying hard for sweet Vada so I need something to focus on.

I let Ollie nap.  I would like to hold her all day, but she doesn't nap well & needs her sleep so I let her.

In the meantime I made her a blanket.

It's a fan-freaking tastic Amy Butler print & I backed it in a pale pink.  It's sweet just like her!

Then, I had to make the two big kids their own blanket.

Aubrie got a fabulous turquoise vintage looking fabric with hot pink backing and a pink A.

Everett is really into fixing things lately.  So I found him fabric with all kinds of power tools & backed it in turquoise, his favorite color.  He has a green E.

They were ECSTATIC!  You can't tell in these pictures because Wow Wow Wubzy was on tv & apparently he's a BIG deal in our house!!

An Ollie Faith Giveaway!!

I'm slow on the draw here!

I have offered up a FREE Ollie Faith Designs baby blanket here.  It's for an amazing cause!  Prayers for my sweet sweet girl & also to help raise awareness & funds for two precious babies just like mine searching for their Mama & Daddy!

So spread the word & help us out :)

PS - Ollie Faith Designs is going on break until after Ollie's surgery.  We go to the cardiologist Friday & get her surgery setup for June & I need to spend time focusing on her and my other two kiddos before we go in so sewing & jewelry have to be set aside - only temporarily!  So this is your last shot to get a custom baby blanket just from me.

Oh and one last thing - pray for weight gain.  Miss O has started nursing exclusively - she is REFUSING any bottle sent her way & her weight gain is not the best.  I'm sad about it and we just need some help from the big guy to get some fat on her little bones.  Pray pray pray that we are over 10 pounds Friday!!  Thank you!!

Sewing Up A Storm

So the custom blankets have been rolling in.  I finished 3 today for some girlfriends of mine from High School.

They are pretty stinking cute!

They are very large - I use a yard of fabric!  They are perfect for a toddler or bigger child.  If you are shopping for a baby - think stroller blanket - but I have made smaller baby blankets as well.  The double minky fleece backing is super soft and cuddly.

For details email me at housethatjadebuilt@gmail.com.  I help pick out the perfect fabric for each blanket & go from there.

Here is my facebook fan site for all my sewing/jewelry creations :)

More of Ollie Faith Designs

I've been busy!  I finished my first group of custom orders - 5 initial blankets!

These two were the girl blankets I made.  I loved them, they are adorable!

I finally got the hang of how to sew this slippery fabric as well.

The fabric is fantastic.

Maggie made some paper weights.

Glass weights + glitter & you can never go wrong!

My etsy store is finally up and running.

I have some jewelry that I am working on, and even more on order.  I'm excited to get some finished so I can load it in the shop & share it with you all!

I am SO excited!  Maggie taught me the ropes & I have more supplies ordered.

This is my first necklace.  I'm working on an Etsy store called Ollie Faith Designs.  It's basically empty until everything I'm working on arrives and I can start showing off my work.  This shop will help me stay home with Miss Ollie until after open heart surgery...supplemental income basically.

Personalized Latitude / Longitude Sterling Silver necklace $36

Where is your special place? Where you were engaged? Where you promised forever & always? The place you call home?
